The second semester of the curriculum addresses three units.

**Unit 5**is entitled**Area and Volume**. Students will find the area of triangles, special quadrilaterals, and polygons by composing and decomposing, find the volume of right rectangular prisms, use nets to represent 3-D figures made of triangles and rectangles, and use nets to find surface area. The standards addressed are MGSE6.G.1, G.2, and G.4.**Unit 6**is entitled**Statistics**. Students will discover statistical variability, data distribution described by center, spread and shape, measures of center and variation, and displaying numerical data in plots on a number line, dot plots, histograms, and box plots. The standards addressed are MGSE6. SP.1, SP.2, SP.3, SP.4, and SP.5.**Unit 7**is entitled**Rational Explorations: Numbers and their Opposites**. Students will represent and recognize positive and negative numbers, understand rational numbers, coordinate plane, compare and order rational numbers, absolute value of rational numbers, and draw polygons on coordinate plane and find area, surface area, and volume. The standards addressed are MGSE6.NS.5, NS.6, NS.7, NS.8, and G.3.The State Department provides an extensive website on state led curriculum, testing, governmental decisions and student achievements.
